Reverse Mortgage Program Manager

Job Summary: This position is responsible for the proactive origination of reverse mortgage loans within the market assigned. To prospect and follow-up in order to increase one’s pipeline and the overall reverse mortgage business and profitability of the bank. This person is responsible to the customer for the loan from application through until closing, and as a result needs a solid knowledge and understanding of the entire reverse mortgage process. This is a proactive sales position requiring routine and regular sales calls on prospective referral sources.

Essential Duties of the Position:

1. Present oneself professionally and positively as a representative of StellarOne.

2. Abide by all bank policies and perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with all job related legal and regulatory requirements. Ensure knowledge base is maintained through successful completion of mandatory compliance and regulatory training and attendance at related mandatory activities.

3. Develops an annual strategic plan with specific sales and marketing plans and volume goals. Works the plan daily and modifies as necessary to increase sales. Reviews plan with sales manager monthly.

4. Maintain current operating knowledge of all job-relevant legal and regulatory requirements through the successful completion of mandatory compliance and regulatory training and attendance at all mandatory regulatory compliance activities.

5. Match StellarOne products with the needs of the customers, both mortgage as well as other bank products, through the interviewing and counseling of potential loan customers, thus building a mortgage pipeline as well as cross selling banking services.

6. Works closely with loan processing, underwriting and closing to assist in moving the loan applications smoothly through to settlement.

7. Maintains an active data base of all past customers and touches base with all a minimum of twice per year.

8. Respond to all telephone calls, emails, faxes and any other forms of communication received within 24 hours at all times. Ensure back up is determined when going to be out of the office for extended periods of time.

9. Ensure that you poses an extensive knowledge of all mortgage products offered by StellarOne Secondary Mortgage as well as the in house department. Stay abreast of programs and pricing offered by area competitors.

10. Track monthly sales and cross sale activities as well as application and closed loan volume. Meet with sales manager monthly to complete the monthly score card and discuss future activities.

11. Track business related expenses and report allowable expenses for reimbursement to the sales manager monthly.

Meet with seniors to advise them on how our financial products may meet their financial needs Build a professional referral network, follow up on referrals from the Bank network of Business Bankers, Retail Centers and Commercial Bankers Build a professional referral network through self sourcing channels. Make group presentations to financial professionals and senior groups . Participate in all activities required to bring a loan to closing. Partners with bank staff to market reverse mortgage product to the senior community. Promotes program within the areas of bank operation by doing seminars and various marketing. Handles referrals from current LO staff. Works with processor to complete loan application. Follows up on all leads both self generated and company provided.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Continuously grow through formal and informal education vehicles.

2. Provide input / suggestions to management for the improvement of the department and the bank.

3. Represent the bank in the community through participation in community activities and as a member of local civic and community organizations.

Education, Skills and Experience: Good math and clerical skills. Excellent interpersonal, telephone and communication skills. PC proficiency and experience in working with Word and Excel. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to organize work and establish deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work accurately with detailed information. Demonstrated mortgage landing and / or sales experience. At least 2 years experience with full life cycle Reverse Mortgage sales. Past cross selling experience. Computer proficiency and experience with contact management software. Incumbent will be highly professional with the ability to prospect new clients through seminars, broker and client referrals, etc. Must be motivated, success-oriented, patient and an ethical self starter who wants to maximize their career potential. Highly professional appearance is a must. Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills to develop and grow relationships in senior markets.
